THE POWER OF PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC

Optimize each trip with three E‑Selec driving modes to suit driving conditions and maximize your low‑emission performance.

Two Power Sources, Twice The Fun

Get the best of both worlds thanks to Hybrid Mode, which optimizes performance while you drive by consuming electric power first. Combined torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors gives you maximum horsepower and acceleration.

Minimum Emissions, Maximum Freedom

Use battery power for lower emissions for those day‑to‑day city drives, or for near‑silent exploration on the trail while still enjoying maximum horsepower and torque.

Keep Your Battery On Backup

Save your battery power for when you need it – eSave Mode conserves battery power and operates on gasoline only, so you can take your time between charging sessions.

HOW CHARGING WORKS

Level 1 - Casual & Convenient
Level 1 charging uses the 115 V charging cable included with your vehicle, and plugs into any standard three-prong outlet.
Level 2 - Specialized For Speed
Level 2 charging uses a professionally installed 240 V home charging dock available from Mopar® or a commercial charging station.

Charging At Home

Plug Into Convenience

Use the included Level 1 charging cable with any standard three‑prong outlet for a full charge in approximately 12 hours. The available professionally installed Level 2 at‑home charging station* can get the job done in as little as 2 hours for certain models.
*Installation and configuration requirements may apply. Before purchasing or installing, customers should ensure that the system is compatible with their home’s electrical system. Electrical system upgrades may be necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Please consult a professional installer for full details.

Charging On The Go

The Power To Go The Distance

Away from home, choose the Level 1 charger and a standard outlet when you have longer periods to recharge, such as while at work for the day. Use the available Level 2 charger at commercial charging stations for a faster recharge in as little as 2 hours.

CHARGED UP FOR ADVENTURE

INSTANT TORQUE
Jeep® electrified vehicles deliver authentic off‑road performance and improved capability that makes it even easier to crawl over challenging obstacles. Both the Wrangler 4xe PHEV and Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV deliver an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 pound‑feet of torque.
CONVENIENT CHARGING OPTIONS
Plug in and charge up at home, at work, or on the go thanks to a variety of convenient and efficient charging options. Use the Level 1 charging cable with a standard three‑prong outlet, the available Level 2 charging cable at home or a commercial charging station, and optimize your charge levels through regenerative braking.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING
Regenerative braking helps you reduce your fuel consumption by turning the energy from braking into extra, lower emission battery power just by driving normally.
WATERPROOF BATTERY CASING
4xe batteries are safely sealed behind a waterproof casing to help you traverse bodies of water, offering the same water fording capability as their gas‑powered counterparts.
OPTIMIZED RANGE
Whether adventuring off‑road or riding through town, Jeep® 4xe vehicles are designed for exceptional, fuel‑efficient range.
TOWING WITH BRAGGING RIGHTS
Towing with a Jeep® electrified vehicle offers you the same – or better – capability that you’ve come to expect. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon® 4xe PHEV has the same towing capacity of ANY vehicle in the Wrangler lineup, even when compared to the gas‑powered equivalents. The Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV boasts an impressive towing capacity of 2,721 kg (6,000 lb) for maximum pulling power.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Learn more about Jeep® electrified vehicles – how they work, how they perform, and some common misconceptions.

What is a PHEV?

PHEV stands for Plug‑In Hybrid Electric Vehicle. PHEVs have a gas engine and an electric motor (or motors) powered by a battery that can be charged by plugging it in.

How does a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) Work?

Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles (PHEVs) reduce total fuel consumption by combining two sources of power: an electric motor (or motors), and a gas engine. Typically, the vehicle runs on electric power first, or a combination of electric and gas power optimized for lower emissions. Once battery power is depleted, the vehicle will run on gas power alone until a sufficient battery charge is reached by plugging in the battery to recharge.

What is the difference between a Hybrid and a Plug-In?

A Hybrid vehicle does not plug in to recharge the battery; instead, it continuously recharges the battery via regenerative braking and through operation of the engine.

In addition to regenerative braking and engine function, a Plug‑In Hybrid (PHEV) battery can be recharged by plugging it in. A PHEV also has a larger battery capacity than a typical Hybrid vehicle, and can therefore drive on low-emission electric mode for longer before the combustion engine takes over. This results in lower tailpipe emissions overall than a regular Hybrid vehicle.

How far can a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) drive?

The total range of a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) depends on the vehicle’s battery capacity and fuel tank capacity.

The Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV has an impressive driving range, offering an all‑electric, low‑emission range of up to 42 km and a total hybrid range of up to 761 km without refueling or recharging. Wherever the road less travelled takes you, your Jeep electrified vehicle is up for the challenge.

Will a Plug‑In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) drive without gas in the tank?

A PHEV requires gas to function properly, even when driving with low‑emission all‑electric power. You should never drive without gas in the tank of your
